Floor Plan Color Rendering

Janet Lee is a nationally recognized artist. On her website it is noted, “With architectural illustration, Janet works along side architects to translate the technical aspect of their design projects into a visual picture for their clients.”

I find that taking the time to add color, texture and value to a floor plan increases the visual communication.  The color rendering reinforces the interior design plan.  Notice this on the rendered floor plan image which is 24” X 36” Marker & color pencil on Diazo black-line paper.  The medium is marker, colored pencil, and some acrylic.

The description of this image on her website includes this quote, “The artist adds a touch of realism to an otherwise drab floor plan and we are able to see her abilities to render different materials and surfaces.  Through her use of shadows as a key element in the furnishings, and bringing her trompe l’oeil skills to elevate the plants, she enables her client’s prospective tenant to visualize the warmth of a real apartment home.”
