So enjoying my summer teaching schedule which gives me time to practice my hand drawing skills. I am challenging myself to add more pattern, texture and contrasting values to these new drawings. Above is a final drawing that I just finished. I am reminded how important it is to have an actual fabric sample to use as an example because when I first started to add a pattern I was stuck without having an actual pattern to look at.
Before I work on the final drawing, I will start with a quick sketch done in pencil in the sketchbook. In this drawing, I was working on the composition, the desk size and shape, along with what items would be going on the floor.
I started the final drawing on hot press drawing paper which has a smooth finish, perfect for markers. This drawing is just the outlines of the objects. Looking at it now, I wish I would have added a lap top on the desk instead of the book.
